The town of Roscoe, Texas is officially incorporated.
1910
The Altom family arrives in a covered wagon. Cecil is born in 1911 in Snyder. His dad was a railroad laborer for RSP (Roscoe, Snyder, Pacific Railway) and then farmed in the area until 1944.
1914
The West Texas Electric Co. brings electricity from Sweetwater to Roscoe!
Late 1918

The Faust family arrives from Alabama. Essie is age 14.
1919
The Blankenship family arrives in Roscoe. William Edward is age 19.
1921
John A. and Lizzie Butler move near Trent (Goodman Community) for farming. (In 1967, their home was seven miles north of Trent.)
1922
William E. and Essie Blankenship marry in Roscoe.
1924
The Butler family (John H.H. and Mollie) comes from Rankin, Texas. Elva is age 12.
1927
The Baptist church holds summer baptisms at the creek. The town also held tent revivals in the summertime.
1929
Leslie Velpo Blankenship is born in Roscoe, delivered by Dr. J.W. Young, the town doctor since 1907.
1930
Cecil Altom marries Elva Butler in Roscoe.
Nancy Blankenship dies in Roscoe. Her husband William Matthew returns home to Alabama, where he dies in 1938.
1933
Dorothy Faye Altom is born in Roscoe, delivered by Dr. J.W. Young, the town doctor since 1907.
The 1940’s

The Butler family has moved to Ellis County (near Dallas).
1944
William J. and Lula Jane Altom retire near Dallas, Texas. They are buried at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Combine, Texas.
John A. Butler dies in Roscoe (father of John H.H. Butler).
Alfred G. Faust dies in Roscoe.

1950
After Dorothy graduates from high school, Velpo and Dorothy get hitched!
1951-1952
Velpo serves in the Korean War. Vange Blankenship is born while her dad is deployed. Little brother David arrives two years later.
1955
Vicki Faye Blankenship is born in Sweetwater.
1957
Velpo and Dorothy move their family near Sulphur, Louisiana. Their fourth child, Elvalena, is born the following year.
Emma Faust dies in Sweetwater, resident of Roscoe.
1967
Lizzie Butler (mother to John H.H.) dies in Sweetwater. She is buried in Trent, Texas.
1968
Velpo and Dorothy move their family to Ingleside, Texas.
1973
John H.H. Butler and wife Mollie die one week apart in Roscoe.
1975
Velpo and Dorothy Blankenship celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.
William Edward Blankenship dies from a heart attack at home in Roscoe.
1982
Velpo dies in Kerrville.
1991
Cecil Altom dies in Kerrville.
1996
Jesse Faust, Sr. (Vel’s uncle and former employer) dies in a local nursing home at age 90. His shop is shown in 1962 with the large "Champion" sign.
1999
Essie Estelle (Faust) Blankenship dies in an Abilene hospital, resident of Roscoe most of her life.
Elva (Butler) Altom dies in Sandia, Texas, and is buried near Portland, Texas.
2014
Dorothy Faye (Altom) Blankenship dies in Corpus Christi, Texas, and is buried near Portland, Texas.
